Primark Makeup Sponge for 70p?!

Oh hey y’all

How goeth it?

Agesssss ago I wanted a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge but I was umming and arring and so my friend suggested buying a Primark one in the meantime.

I haven’t shopped in Primark for ages but, as always, money is tight and when my friend said their sponges were 70p, I couldn’t resist.

I feel that this sponge is more focused on the shape of a Beauty Blender and it’s quite a sturdy, thick sponge. It felt that it could do some serious blendage.

When I started to use it, I was really impressed. It make the foundation blend seamlessly and everything looked flawless.

HOWEVER, for some reason, when I used it the second time, it didn’t look great. It started to take off some of my makeup and I couldn’t understand what was happening.

A good few days later, it was pointed out to me that I needed to actually wet the sponge. Yes, I was embarrassed and yes, it did make sense.

Now, I actually haven’t tried it since but now it’s all cleaned and washed I am looking forward to doing so!

I now also have a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge in my makeup bag which is fabulous (blog post on that coming soon) but I think for 70p you cannot go wrong with this sponge!

Has anyone else purchased one of these? Did you forget to wet it too?!

Oh My Gosh I’m Finally Using Micellar Water!

…and it hates my skin 😦

Guys, I am so upset by this *sigh*

So, I got Garnier’s Micellar Cleansing Water in a 3 for 2 deal with Sarah (yep, I hang out with her A LOT) and her sister at Boots and I was so excited to try this. I had heard the most glorious things about this.

After a day of full makeup, I reached for the cotton pads and began to generously pour the water on, gently rubbing away my layers.

I studied the pads to find the makeup and I smiled- this truly did what it said it would!

I was over the moon- finally a quick solution to taking off the makeup. I used it the next morning and the following night and it was then when I noticed my skin.

Oh my goodness what had happened to my skin.

I was covered in spots, tiny spots around my nose, big zits on my forehead and cheeks, red skin which looked sore. Of course it had to be this holy grail beauty product.

I sighed in annoyance.

I had just started to clear my skin up from a bad breakout from a overly exfoliating face mask. What was going on here?!

Luckily, my spots seemed to have cleared up after a week and I have fabulous skin again. I had to use a lot of tea tree oil and lavender though.

I’m not sure what happened here, has anyone else had this problem? Are there any other uses for this water since I’ve now paid for it haha!

My Weekend OOTD and Cake Obvs

Hi hi hi!

How are you all? How was your weekend?

Thought I’d do a little ‘weekend in pictures’ today. So, let’s start with Saturday:

Yes, it’s a selfie ha! Anyway, I put a little dry shampoo in my hair that day and it really gave it a little umph. At the minute I’m using a fab one from Matrix but unfortunately, I can’t seem to see it anymore on their website! I’ll have to be careful with this last bottle then 😦

Anyhoo, the rest of the day wasn’t spent posing but was spent at Iain’s parent’s house as it was his Dad’s birthday. Thankfully, he liked his gift! 🙂

So, moving onto Sunday. My incredible best friends came to see me on Sunday. We didn’t have much planned but in preparation for going out, I wanted to do a full face of makeup so here is what I put on this little old face of mine:

Everything here can be bought at Debenhams, Boots, SuperdrugHolland and Barratt, Lush or Topshop.

So in my little collection here I’ve got moisturiser, primer, foundation, concealer, blusher (the little pot), eyeliner, mascara, eyebrow brush, powder brush and powder!

I wanted to keep quite a natural finish to my face today and kept a simple flick on my eyelids with just a hint of blusher and a nude lip.

I chose to keep a natural finish because of my outfit which was this!:

It sort of looks like I’m floating here but anyway, here is my outfit. I chose to wear my new ripped knee leggings from Matalan with my new Matalan jumper.

I topped this off with my Chelsea boots from Dr Martens (which I’m not sure are still available) and I just thought it gave a very relaxed look but with a bit of an edge.

Of course, I wore that to go out and eat a mahoosive slice of cookie cheesecake (I can’t remember the actual name of it!). Oh my goodness, it was so good. In fact, I’m ashamed at how much I ate of it. But it was so good.

It was from a pub near to where I live that does cakeaways and their cakes just make me so happy. If you look closely you can see me in the spoon :/

So that’s what I got up to! How about you? How was your weekend?

Update on bareMineral’s Lash Domination!

Guys, I’m not impressed.

I went to use this mascara the other day, the one that I had been so, so happy about using and then what did I discover? It had already become clumpy on the wand..what the?

I’m really annoyed as I haven’t even had this for two weeks and I’m sad because I thought I might be on to a winner! Obviously not 😦

Anyhoo, I guess I should look on the bright side and be glad I didn’t spend my money on it. On the plus side my ASOS order arrived today.

Has this happened to anyone else?

bareMinerals Lash Domination Review

hi hi hi

How is it going lovely people?

Right, so, I wanted to do a little review on bareMineral’s Lash Domination mascara. I tried this yesterday after being given a miniature which Sarah (you know Sarah) had obtained from the Liverpool Wedding Show which we went to on Saturday. We were evacuated and had to seek warm drinks elsewhere but that’s a story for another day.

So, I’m not going to talk about pricing because we all know that everyone will shop around for the best price themselves but if you do know where I can get it on the cheap, please oh please let me know!

Okay, let’s start with the packaging. I really like this packaging. It makes it look expensive  (which we could argue that it is but never mind). It has a mirror finish to it and just keeps to a simple, cylindrical bottle. There’s no patterns or changing of texture. I just like the simplicity. The name in capitals makes me think that this mascara means business too.

Now, the wand is quite different as it twists round which made me question whether it would get all my lashes but apparently so! It’s actually the first mascara I’ve used that looked like it had coated every lash. I will add that I had the Benefit’s They’re Real Tinted Primer on before using this so this may have assisted in my results.

I am super impressed with this little mascara though. It does what it says on the tin and really gives volume. I felt like my eyes were the centre of attention and I loved it because I always like to draw attention to my eyes but I feel that most mascaras draw it in the wrong way.

I will say that it did come off a little under the eye but I had added it to my bottom lashes so I think from now on that’s a no-no.

Has anyone else used this or do you have it? What are your thoughts? Any tips for using it?

Topshop Smoke Sticks Review!

Good Afternoon!

As I mentioned in my post about Topshop Magic Liner, I had purchased three Smoke Sticks as they all came together in a lovely, sparkly box. All together, the set cost £10 instead of £20 and I discovered that usually a smoke stick costs £6.50 so I’m very chuffed 😀

I’ve never really owned a product like this before and at first I wasn’t sure how it would work for me. They can look a bit daunting at first as they are so thick and give a good depth of colour and you wonder about how difficult it would be to a) make a mistake and b) easily rectify said mistake.

Anyway, the colours I purchased were Dark Horse (left), Conspire (middle) and Deviant (right).

I feel that the smoke sticks offer colours which you would associate with a smokey eye even though I feel that these are harder to blend with eyeshadows to reach that effect. They make a wonderful base for your eyeshadow though, if you want it to pack that extra punch! I also think they are fantastic for lining the corner of the eye for a bit of extra sparkle too, or just under the lash line but I would prefer to use the darkest shade for that. I feel that these wouldn’t quite be the best thing for just a natural look because of the statement they make but they’ll make you look hella glamorous!

Sadly, I’m pretty sure that the colours of the sticks are/were limited edition as I can’t see them available to purchase as individual items which is a shame because they’re gorgeous.

Has anyone else used or purchased these? What do you think about them? Do you have any tips for using them? Let me know!
