Primark Makeup Sponge for 70p?!

Oh hey y’all

How goeth it?

Agesssss ago I wanted a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge but I was umming and arring and so my friend suggested buying a Primark one in the meantime.

I haven’t shopped in Primark for ages but, as always, money is tight and when my friend said their sponges were 70p, I couldn’t resist.

I feel that this sponge is more focused on the shape of a Beauty Blender and it’s quite a sturdy, thick sponge. It felt that it could do some serious blendage.

When I started to use it, I was really impressed. It make the foundation blend seamlessly and everything looked flawless.

HOWEVER, for some reason, when I used it the second time, it didn’t look great. It started to take off some of my makeup and I couldn’t understand what was happening.

A good few days later, it was pointed out to me that I needed to actually wet the sponge. Yes, I was embarrassed and yes, it did make sense.

Now, I actually haven’t tried it since but now it’s all cleaned and washed I am looking forward to doing so!

I now also have a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge in my makeup bag which is fabulous (blog post on that coming soon) but I think for 70p you cannot go wrong with this sponge!

Has anyone else purchased one of these? Did you forget to wet it too?!

Oh My Gosh I’m Finally Using Micellar Water!

…and it hates my skin 😦

Guys, I am so upset by this *sigh*

So, I got Garnier’s Micellar Cleansing Water in a 3 for 2 deal with Sarah (yep, I hang out with her A LOT) and her sister at Boots and I was so excited to try this. I had heard the most glorious things about this.

After a day of full makeup, I reached for the cotton pads and began to generously pour the water on, gently rubbing away my layers.

I studied the pads to find the makeup and I smiled- this truly did what it said it would!

I was over the moon- finally a quick solution to taking off the makeup. I used it the next morning and the following night and it was then when I noticed my skin.

Oh my goodness what had happened to my skin.

I was covered in spots, tiny spots around my nose, big zits on my forehead and cheeks, red skin which looked sore. Of course it had to be this holy grail beauty product.

I sighed in annoyance.

I had just started to clear my skin up from a bad breakout from a overly exfoliating face mask. What was going on here?!

Luckily, my spots seemed to have cleared up after a week and I have fabulous skin again. I had to use a lot of tea tree oil and lavender though.

I’m not sure what happened here, has anyone else had this problem? Are there any other uses for this water since I’ve now paid for it haha!

Revolution Makeup Radiance Highlighter Palette!

Morning morning morning!

So I haven’t quite been posting everyday sorry guys, it’s been a mad week.

How are you all though?!

I wanted to share my experience with Makeup Revolution’s Radiance Highlighter palette today.

I bought this a while ago because I wanted a really nice highlighter but, as per usual, I didn’t have a lot of money to spare so I did a little bit of research. In the end, I decided that Makeup Revolution’s palettes seemed affordable and gave a lovely look.

I chose their Radiance Highlighter palette which was only £8. I felt that this palette gave a really nice and generous selection and I was keen to try it!

It doesn’t exactly tell you how to apply it but then again, I’ve actually used this palette as a blusher aswell.

At the minute my blushers have been a bit too harsh for me- it’s prompted the bf to say something so you know it’s bad! I have a very pale complexion but I also have quite rosy cheeks and felt this shades would make me glow and not like I was embarrassed like before *cringe*.

I tend to use the bottom colour as a blusher or the top one as these are the darkest, adding the middle to the top of my cheekbones.

They give a lovely sheen and shimmer and are easily buildable. I also put it on before my powder so that if I have gone a little too far I needn’t panic!

The colours are lovely and rich and I think they’re perfect for all year round. Again, they don’t limit you to a day or night look and to be honest, you aren’t reduced to using just one or two lipsticks with them.

I absolutely love this palette and, for £6, it’s such a bargain, it’s definitely worth it!

Has anyone got this palette? What do you think? Would you buy this?

New Look Jewellery Haul- No, I Didn’t Need Them

Heyyyy!

I went into New Look.

It was just an innocent mooch I promise! However, when I saw Buy One Get One Free on all jewellery and hair accessories I kind of had to have something.

I know, I’m trying to save but look how prettyyyyy!

I love that I could get all of these pairs for £3.99! What a bargain 😮

I really like the little studs and think that they’ll just be great for everyday, giving a bit of a casual feel to my outfits. I also think they could grunge me up a bit.

I’ll be wearing the big studs when I want to make more of a statement, though! I love that they look a little bit 90s and this sort of opal stone in the middle. I’ve never been a massive fan of that kind of stone but I think it works well with the gold and it can add a touch of glamour maybe!

I think these will probably work best with a plainer outfit and with my makeup kept at everyday. I think I could play around with my makeup though, when it comes to the other studs.

Has anyone else cashed in on this offer?! Let me know!

My Weekend OOTD and Cake Obvs

Hi hi hi!

How are you all? How was your weekend?

Thought I’d do a little ‘weekend in pictures’ today. So, let’s start with Saturday:

Yes, it’s a selfie ha! Anyway, I put a little dry shampoo in my hair that day and it really gave it a little umph. At the minute I’m using a fab one from Matrix but unfortunately, I can’t seem to see it anymore on their website! I’ll have to be careful with this last bottle then 😦

Anyhoo, the rest of the day wasn’t spent posing but was spent at Iain’s parent’s house as it was his Dad’s birthday. Thankfully, he liked his gift! 🙂

So, moving onto Sunday. My incredible best friends came to see me on Sunday. We didn’t have much planned but in preparation for going out, I wanted to do a full face of makeup so here is what I put on this little old face of mine:

Everything here can be bought at Debenhams, Boots, SuperdrugHolland and Barratt, Lush or Topshop.

So in my little collection here I’ve got moisturiser, primer, foundation, concealer, blusher (the little pot), eyeliner, mascara, eyebrow brush, powder brush and powder!

I wanted to keep quite a natural finish to my face today and kept a simple flick on my eyelids with just a hint of blusher and a nude lip.

I chose to keep a natural finish because of my outfit which was this!:

It sort of looks like I’m floating here but anyway, here is my outfit. I chose to wear my new ripped knee leggings from Matalan with my new Matalan jumper.

I topped this off with my Chelsea boots from Dr Martens (which I’m not sure are still available) and I just thought it gave a very relaxed look but with a bit of an edge.

Of course, I wore that to go out and eat a mahoosive slice of cookie cheesecake (I can’t remember the actual name of it!). Oh my goodness, it was so good. In fact, I’m ashamed at how much I ate of it. But it was so good.

It was from a pub near to where I live that does cakeaways and their cakes just make me so happy. If you look closely you can see me in the spoon :/

So that’s what I got up to! How about you? How was your weekend?

Rimmel’s Fix and Perfect Primer! Any good?

Heyy

Okay, so I’ve been looking for a good primer but I’m on a budget- a really tight budget.

In the past I’ve used Benefit’s Porefessional which I LOVE but I just don’t have £24 to spend on it right now. So, I’m looking closer at the drugstore brands.

After reading a fair bit on the top ten primers to buy (again, I turned to google), I decided that Rimmel sounded quite good and I was familiar with their products. Therefore, I strode into Superdrug.

Now, what I didn’t realise was that Rimmel actually have three different primers. So, I had a few options.

After feeling the weight of them (I’m not sure why this swayed my decision), I chose their Fix and Perfect Primer.

I like the typical Rimmel packagaing- it’s not intimidating and it sticks to their classic Rimmel look. It is quite a small tube though and I think it would be interesting if they made it a little bigger as it just feels like you need to stock up to get you through the months.

Anyway, keen to try it, I chose to test it against a full face of makeup. Now, I’m quite spotty at the minute and my skin is quite dry in areas so my foundation (which is Benefit’s Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow) isn’t looking as flawless as I’d like it too- enter the primer.

The first thing I noticed when applying is that it went on very easily but it felt more like a runny primer and I was a bit concerned. I also noticed the smell and I have to admit I wasn’t very keen about that.

However! Once on, it dried nicely and not too slowly. I don’t feel that my foundation looked incredible through just using that but I do feel that it did help it to stay on for longer.

I’m not so sure about using this on my eyelids- I’d really like a primer for my eyeshadow but I’m not sure what the best one is for my limited budget.

Overall though, I wouldn’t buy this again and will probably save up now for Benefit’s!

Has anyone tried this? What did you think? Also, any recommendations for primers for the eyes?

Update on bareMineral’s Lash Domination!

Guys, I’m not impressed.

I went to use this mascara the other day, the one that I had been so, so happy about using and then what did I discover? It had already become clumpy on the wand..what the?

I’m really annoyed as I haven’t even had this for two weeks and I’m sad because I thought I might be on to a winner! Obviously not 😦

Anyhoo, I guess I should look on the bright side and be glad I didn’t spend my money on it. On the plus side my ASOS order arrived today.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Percy & Reed Smooth Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil For Fine Hair Review!

Hey hey hey

How are youuu?

I wanted to do a little post today about Percy & Reed Smooth Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil For Fine Hair because I used their Wonder Balm a while ago and loved it. I also got a minature of the oil a long time ago with my Elle Magazine subscription but I hadn’t used it yet and thought it was about time!

This oil is something that you can tousle into wet hair and then you can style it but i decided to just pop some on my damp hair and then leave to towel dry.

So! Let’s begin with how adorable the packaging is. Oh my, I love Percy and Reed! I just think it’s so inviting to use. It’s fun and the writing makes you feel like this product is magical and it won’t fob you off! It sounds silly but I just trust it more because of the great packaging.

Now, the texture. I really like the texture of this oil- it’s not stupidly runny or thick and it doesn’t leave your hands really sticky or greasy after. I simply put about three pumps of it into my hands and rubbed them together. I dispersed it throughout my hair and then left it to dry.

The results, I must say, was glorious. I had gorgeous, shiny hair that felt really nice. I then carried on and styled my hair, straightening it.

Overall, it didn’t look greasy, made my hair look healthier and it has quite a nice smell!

Have you tried this??

Current Lipsticks I’m Fashioning

Yes, I sound old, what with saying fashioning and all.

However, I am young and fabulous and am obsessed with lipsticks. I’m not sure what happened but during recovery I have just switched and all of a sudden I want to wear lipsticks day and night.

I’ve always loved red lipstick but have never really dared to wear it. During these past two months, however, I’ve come to realise how much I suit it- cue purchasing red lipsticks.

However! I also want to explore and as much as I love a red lip, they don’t go with everything. Therefore, I’ve been making purchases in more pinky, peachy and nudey tones. I really like them and they give quite a nice soft look instead of offering a statement.

Now, I’m not really fussy with brands. I can’t afford a lot so my lipsticks have been purchased from superdrug and Boots, hell even Morrisons and they are all £5 or under.

Let’s start from the left, both products on the left are from Rimmel, the middle is from the Natural Collection and the two right are from Collection.

I haven’t really gone for each product based on their longevity but their shade. I will say though, that I have found that the two Rimmel lipsticks offer a more matte finish than the rest.

I think with each one you do need to moisturise your lips with a little bit of lip balm first just to give a nicer finish.

So, with that in mind, here are the colours:

Starting from the top: 101 Red Nose Day – Lasting Finish by Kate (Rimmel), 810 (Rimmel), Berry Blush – Moisture Shine (Natural Collection), 9 – Lasting Colour (Collection) and 21 – Lasting Colour (Collection).

Has anyone else purchased any of these? What do you think?

The Best Thing For Damaged Nails!

Well, in my opinion anyway!

Helloooo! How are you doing today? This weather is foul.

I wanted to do a post today all about how you should NOT pick off your Sensationail nail polish. You should NOT become impatient and should wait for the acetone to do it’s job. Even if you’ve been sat waiting with your hands in water for thirty minutes, don’t do it. Really, don’t do it.

However, if you have, like me, there may still be hope. From what I’d read, it was all about moisturising and giving your nails time to breathe and keeping them in the best condition possible.

So, after picking off the hardened, nearly-two-week-old nail polish I buffered my nails and smoothed them. I then decided to chop them right down which made them look instantly healthier.

Now, I have a lot of Burts Bees products and I do use them but I like to save them for special occasions like holidays…although I’m not sure why. They’re fantastic, natural products though, so I really should be using them more and now was the perfect time to use my Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream.

I hadn’t been sure how to use it before and had shied away but now was the time! I was fearing for my poor nails’ lives and frantically searched for it. Upon finding it I immediately began to smooth it over each nail, quickly seeing results. I then smothered my hands in Kaeso Manicure Hand Treatment Cream and went to bed.

I awoke with nails which looked so much better. Yes, I could still see marks when I’d picked away happily but they felt a lot softer.

Determined to keep doing this, I continued this ritual of cuticle and hand cream every time I washed my hands and three days later you wouldn’t really be able to tell what I’d done! So, I am a very happy bunny.

Has anyone else picked off their gel polish too? What did you use to soothe your nails??
